How We Make This

Built by a tiny team and a lot of AI — and proud of it

Lightning Brain is made by MouseTech Studios, a tiny independent studio. Generative AI is woven into how we build, market, and support this product. Some companies whisper about that. We'd rather show you exactly how it works.

The short version: a team this small should not be able to ship a real-time park intelligence engine, a native iOS app, live wait-time analytics, weather-aware routing, SMS alerts, a daily data-driven blog, and a video desk — and keep it all running during park hours. Generative AI is how we punch that far above our weight, and we use it two different ways. In the product and the code, AI drafts and a human decides: every change is reviewed, tested, and deployed by a person. In our newsroom, we've gone further — publishing pipelines we built and tuned by hand now write and broadcast on their own, and they're always labeled as AI-made. The things that have to be true — wait times, stats, testimonials — are measured, never generated.

In Development

Where AI does the heaviest lifting

👩‍💻

AI Pair Programming

A large share of Lightning Brain's code is written in collaboration with AI coding agents (primarily Anthropic's Claude Code). The developer sets the direction, reviews every change, and tests it before it ships. Think of it as a very fast junior engineer with an unusually good memory — supervised by a human who knows the parks.

🔍

AI-Assisted Code Review & Security

We turn AI loose on our own code to hunt for bugs, security holes, and sloppy corners — then a human verifies and fixes what it finds. Some of the hardening on this very site started as an AI review finding.

🔑

Humans Hold the Keys

AI never deploys the product. It has no access to the app's production servers or the live database. Every release is reviewed, tested, and pushed to production by a person, on purpose. That's not a limitation we tolerate — it's a rule we insist on.

🧮

What's NOT Generative AI

The routing engine itself. Wait times, walking distances, time windows, and "you have time for this on the way" math are deterministic algorithms running on live park data — not a language model guessing. When Lightning Brain says you'll make your Lightning Lane window, that's arithmetic, not vibes.

In the Product

Where you'll meet AI as a user

📸

AI Trip Reports

The one openly generative feature in the app. AI combines your photos with your real park data — attractions ridden, miles walked, time saved — into a shareable recap of your day. It's labeled as AI-made, because it is.

📊

Everything Else Is Real Data

Wait times sync live from My Disney Experience. Weather comes from real forecasts. The stats on our landing page come straight out of our database. If a number matters to your day, it was measured, not generated.

In Marketing & Communications

AI drafts, humans approve

✍️

Copy & Content

Ad copy, landing page text, FAQs, app store descriptions — most of it starts as an AI draft and gets edited and approved by a human before it goes anywhere. This page? AI-drafted too, then reviewed word by word. (Our blog and videos work differently — they get their own section below.)

💬

Support & Email

AI helps draft support replies and product emails so a small team can answer quickly during park hours. A human reads and sends every message — you're never arguing with a bot pretending to be a person.

🗣️

What We Never Fake

Testimonials are real quotes from real users, with their permission. We don't generate reviews, invent user stories, or inflate numbers. A transparency page from a company that faked its social proof would be worth nothing — including this one.

🔒

Your Data Stays Yours

We don't use your personal data to train AI models, and we don't sell it to anyone who would. Where AI features process your data (like trip report photos), it's to build your output — not to teach a model about you.

Our Automated Newsroom

The part we're most proud of — and the part that runs without us

The Lightning Brain Blog publishes daily park reports, weekly analyses, and Disney & cruise news — every day, written end-to-end by AI. This is the one place where no human approves each piece before it ships, and we want to be completely clear about how that works. We built these pipelines by hand and spent months arguing with them: tuning what they watch, how they reason about crowd data, what voice they write in, and what they're not allowed to say. Now they run essentially unsupervised. We monitor and keep improving them — we just don't stand at the door checking each post. When the source is our own measured park data and the stakes are a blog post, we think a well-built machine deserves the byline.

📰

The Blog Writes Itself

Daily park reports and weekly analyses are generated from the same live wait-time, crowd, and weather data that powers the app — the routing engine, writing a column about what it saw. News posts ("Disney Deets Daily," "Cruise Deets Daily") are AI-written summaries of Disney news. All of it is bylined "Lightning Brain," because that's who wrote it.

🎬

Meet AI Dan & AI Tim

Our video hosts are AI-generated, and we named them that way so nobody has to wonder. "AI Dan" and "AI Tim" — synthetic versions of our two very real co-founders, made with their blessing — present video summaries of the daily, weekly, and Deets posts for our social channels, like our Instagram. The script, the voice, and the face are all AI. The park data they're reporting is all real.

Our AI Rules

The lines we don't cross, in writing

Why We Work This Way

Because the alternative for an independent studio isn't "the same product, built more artisanally." The alternative is a much smaller product, or none at all. AI leverage is why Lightning Brain can offer vacation-days-only pricing instead of a subscription, ship fixes while you're still in the park, and compete on intelligence with apps built by teams a hundred times our size.

We think this is simply how great small software gets made now. We'd rather be early and honest about it than quiet and awkward later. If you have questions we didn't answer here, ask us — a human will write you back. Possibly with a first draft from our favorite robot.

Fair Questions

Did AI write this page?

+

Yes — it was drafted by an AI coding agent and reviewed, edited, and approved by a human. A page about how we use AI, made the way we actually use AI.

Is Lightning Brain "just a wrapper around a chatbot"?

+

No. The core product — routing, time-window math, wait-time intelligence — is deterministic software running on live park data. Generative AI helped us build that software and powers the labeled AI features (like trip reports), but your recommendations come from algorithms and real numbers, not a language model.

If AI writes the code, how do I know the app is reliable?

+

The same way you'd know with any developer: review and testing. Every change is human-reviewed and tested before release, AI-assisted security reviews run against our own code, and a human performs every deploy. Reliability comes from process, and the process has a person at every gate.

Does a person read the blog posts before they publish?

+

No — and we'd rather tell you that than pretend otherwise. The blog pipelines were built, tested, and refined by hand over a long time, and they write from measured park data, not imagination. We monitor their output and keep tuning them, but they publish on their own. If one ever gets something wrong, tell us and a human will fix it.

Are AI Dan and AI Tim real people?

+

They're AI-generated hosts modeled on two very real people — our co-founders — who agreed to have synthetic versions of themselves reading the park news. The names are the disclosure: if the host is called "AI Dan," you can trust that no actual Dan was harmed (or filmed) in the making of that video.

Does my data get fed into AI models?

+

Your personal data is never used to train AI models. AI features that process your data (like trip report photos) do so only to generate your output. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
